My Story
Why I paint.
I paint because I have always been moved by beauty—the kind placed here by a loving Creator. Beauty in people and relationships. In Christ. In nature and light. In motherhood, family, old buildings, history, and even in imperfect, everyday things.
I believe beauty inspires us to live better, more honest, and more hopeful lives.
From childhood I was aware of buildings and beauty — shaped in part by my father’s work in construction, and by a lasting fascination with art, architecture, and nature. I have always loved people who create goodness. Eventually that love became a desire to make something beautiful myself.
After Lily’s death, college brought an earlier pull toward social work and possibly art therapy — and then the realization that art itself could become a way of offering beauty, healing, and hope.

The Painting That Began It All
After Lily died, I repeatedly saw an image in my mind:
I saw her standing beneath the Tree of Life, offering its fruit to our family.
I wanted someone to make the intangible image tangible — something our family could see, learn from, and find hope in.
When no one could or would paint it for me, I eventually realized: I would have to learn to paint it myself.
What began in grief became a gift.
And that painting ultimately helps explain why Consider the Lilies Atelier exists.
He has made everything beautiful in its time.
